CAMEROON: CHANGE and CHALLENGES on November 8 & 9
Perspectives on one of Africa's emerging armed conflicts, regional influences, and prospects for peace. Cameroon, a resource-rich country in Central Africa, is composed of two parts: the larger was under French colonial rule, the smaller under British. Populations of the two areas speak the corresponding language, French or English, in addition to local languages. The English-speaking ("Anglophone") minority sees decreasing autonomy and increasing marginalization. Nonviolent protests began in 2016 but later turned to violent action.
