THE GÉWËL TRADITION OF SENEGAL

In West Africa, a Géwël is what is often referred to as a griot. They have many roles, from historian and genealogist to musician and entertainer. There will be food and the audience will be introduced to some cool music and storytelling styles from Senegal. Come learn the origins of a tradition that informs storytelling and music in African and African-American culture! – Prof. Robert Bellinger (Suffolk University)
