The City Talks: Family Lineage

Why should we know our “roots?”

Join Boston-area thinkers, institutions, entrepreneurs, activists, city officials, and artists at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston for a discussion inspired by themes found in the current exhibition “(un)expected families.”

Our moderator will be Heather Paxson, William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Anthropology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Panelists include:

• Dwight Allen, African Ancestry DNA participant

• Annu Palakunnathu Matthew, professor of art at University of Rhode Island; director, URI Center for the Humanities; artist featured in “(un)expected families”

• Jeff Siaw, Executive Director of Africans in Boston, Founder and President of The Eleventh Region
